The Friendswood ISD board of trustees is calling for a voter-approval tax rate election to be put on the Nov. 7 ballot as the district faces a projected $2.45 million shortfall in its 2023-24 budget. During an August meeting, trustees unanimously approved placing the proposition on the ballot for voter consideration. If voters approve the tax increase, which will appear on the ballot as Proposition A, the district could gain an additional $1.2 million annually in funding. 'By holding this tax ratification election, Friendswood ISD aims to generate additional revenue to enhance educational opportunities, address critical needs, and ensure the continued excellence of its schools,' according to district communication specialist, Kelsey Golz.
