Newly crowned Miss USA, R'Bonney Gabriel is still adjusting to fame after her historic win this month. As she eases into her newfound celebrity, the Friendswood native opened up about her mental health journey, representing Asian Americans and her journey in pageantry and as a fashion designer. Gabriel was crowned Miss USA on Oct. 3, becoming the first Filipino American to win. On Jan. 14, she will represent the U.S. at the Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans. Journey to Miss USA A persistent and encouraging hairstylist from a photo shoot told Gabriel for over a year that she would be great in the pageant industry.
